Over the years I have noticed that index updating is not working, Recoll just hangs after a while, shows no progress. I am running Recoll 1.17.3 + Xapian 1.2.16, on Mint17. The utility recollstatus.py shows the same information since half an hour, but Recoll sucks up almost 100% of one of my CPUs: recollindex is running recollindex has been running for 0:50:56.847667 DbIxStatus is DBIXS_FILES Files indexed: 1157 Files checked: 129 Starting number of files: 200389 Indexing this file or directory: /home/xyz/.thunderbird/nrll2bdt.default/Mail/mail.xyz/Sent|941:0942

Hi,
recoll 1.17.3 is really ancient, and the first step would be to upgrade it using the Recoll PPA:
Then completely reset the index (rm -rf ~/.recoll/xapiandb), restart indexing, and we’ll take it from there.

Thanks for your prompt response. I installed version 1.22.3 and it seems to be working. I will verify again in a couple of weeks, when the files on the computer have changed. Any idea why the not-so-old Mint17 has such an old version in their repositories?

Sorry for the late answer: the Debian package had quite a bit of lag at some point, because the maintainer was busy with other stuff. So an old version got into Debian Jessie, and derived distributions are stuck with it.
