Hi,
I’m having the worst problem imaginable installing recoll on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. It keeps complaining about missing library files, supporting apps… at some point Xapian wouldn’t install. I think the problem is largely do to the difficulty in finding the correct (and complete) install program, as well as how to install it.
Can anyone help? To add to the frustration, I already had recoll working on this platform, then my laptop had to be reimaged for another problem (fresh copy of RHEL) and now I can’t install it for the life of me. I have to scan through large amounts of reference documents to do my job and really need the tool back.
Thanks much for any assistance.

Hi,
I would need more specific details to help you, and I won’t be able to do it immediately anyway, as I’ll be away from my computer for one week.
As there is no binary package for RHEL 6.3 as far as I know, the only advice I could give would be to follow the instructions about building from source which can be found in the manual: http://www.lesbonscomptes.com/recoll/usermanual/usermanual.html#RCL.INSTALL.BUILDING
I see that they have not been updated for some time, but they should still be close to valid, as long as you ignore the software versions and go for recent Qt (4.7) and Xapian (1.2.x) versions.
I’ll try to help when I get back, if you still have problems.

Also, maybe, try to build recoll-1.16, this was the last one before the switch to using Webkit by default for the result list, and it is probably easier to build.
