Issue 132: Installing recoll on Ubuntu 10.04.4 (Lucid Lynx), Prebuilt build tree

Hi,

I tried to follow your instructions for installing on Ubuntu given here:

However I get the errors:

The following packages have unmet dependencies: recoll: Depends: libqt4-webkit ( >= 4:4.6.1) but it is not going to be installed Depends: libxapian22 but it is not installable

I tried installing libqt4-webkit but I get similar errors.

I also cannot install libxapian22 but I can install libxapian15.

However I read on http://www.lesbonscomptes.com/recoll/usermanual/rcl.install.html that prebuilt build trees (where recoll is statically linked and hence does not require installation of libxapian) which go into /usr/local can be downloaded from the Recoll website. I wanted to try this solution but I could not find this prebuilt tree on the website. Can you please provide me the link to the tree?

I think that a prebuilt tree is not going to help much here as there seems to be problems with libqt4, and only libxapian would be statically linked.

I think that your best bet would be to build from source, either using the debian package (http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/maint-guide/build.en.html), or by following the instructions in the recoll manual. I hope I can help if there are problems while doing this.
