Hi,

I just found out about recoll and its lens yesterday (yes I’m late) and it’s really great work, thanks a lot.

More to the point : I know for a fact that I can use recoll with non alphabetic languages (in my case, japanese) because I’ve tested it, but trying the same search in the recoll lens doesn’t bring any result.

The bug doesn’t seem to come from the unity dash itself because I can pull files with japanese names from the unity file lens.

Would you have any idea as to what is going wrong here ?

Thanks again, GM

Hi,

I’m not too sure what’s happening here, but I would first suspect a character set issue. I’ll take a better look when I’m back home in a few days. What locale are you using ?

Hi,

I’m using fr_FR.UTF-8. I tried switching to ja_JP.UTF-8 and rebooting but it doesn’t work either.

I don’t know if it’s relevant but I’m running Ubuntu 12.04, the IME is iBus.

Hi,

There was a character encoding (lack of) conversion issue in the Python code.

I think that I have corrected the problem. If you want to test the fix, please copy the attached rclsearch.py file to /usr/share/unity-lens-recoll/recollscope/, restart the desktop (log out), and retry a japanese search.

Cheers,

jf
